On March 1, resplendent in their dafffodil pins and brooches, members of Carew WI began the afternoon with the singing of Jerusalem.

A minutes silence was then observed in memory of Julie’s mum, who recently passed away.

The minutes of February’s meeting were read, signed and sanctioned and matters arising dealt with.

The contents of the PFWI County Letter was shared with relevant items resolved. Correspondence, notices of community events and birthday wishes were extended to Dorothy.

After tea, the meeting settled down to an afternoon of escapism with our guest speaker Judith Barrow.

Judith is a best selling author of fiction novels and regaled members with her back story and her thought processes before beginning a new book.

She invited members to join her in vocalising descriptive scenarios from every day life.

Judith enjoys people watching and invited everyone to see the world around us anew as if through the eyes of a child and encouraged everyone to write down what they could see, hear, smell and even taste.

She then read a chapter from her latest publication ‘Sisters’. Members were caught up in the story and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in her company.

The competition - any item daffodil related was won by Marina, second was Elaine and third was Rosemary.

The raffle was won by Brenda H. Next month members will be making pottery under the expert guidance of Ellie.

The competition entrants are invited to bring a local pottery item to the meeting.
