Hywel Dda NHS Trust will be promoting the wide range of careers and jobs available within the NHS in Wales as part of a Wales-wide week of activities next month.

Supported locally by Careers Wales West, the Trust will be in attendance at a number of job fairs across the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. The events are being held during NHS Open Week (March 2-6), which is orchestrated nationally by the National Leadership and Innovation Agency for Healthcare.

Head of recruitment for Hywel Dda NHS Trust Angela McCarthy said: "We are really looking forward to welcoming people and raising awareness of the vast range of careers available within the NHS. Who knows, we may help someone take their first step in their new career."

Trust representatives will be in attendance at various job fairs and locally at the Job Centre, Haverfordwest, 10.30 am - 3 pm on Friday, March 6.

In partnership with Careers Wales West, the Trust has also organised its own dedicated and interactive open day for schoolchildren and training providers across the region. This will be held at Trinity College, Carmarthen, on Thursday, March 5.

NLIAH, which plays a strategic role supporting NHS Wales to deliver world class healthcare through the development of clinical and non-clinical staff at every level, says many people have a very narrow view about jobs in the National Health Service.

Stephen Griffiths, joint interim director of workforce development at NLIAH, said: "Everyone thinks the NHS employs only doctors and nurses, but in fact there is a huge range of exciting careers available in Wales' largest employer. The NHS needs everyone - from chefs, scientists and therapists to electricians and accountants - and many more roles besides."
