An "exciting development" is how Tenby's Mayor-elect, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, has described plans for a major revamp of the area around the town's multi-storey car park. Her comments were echoed by fellow town councillors at their meeting on Tuesday night when they were discussing outline plans for the proposed scheme in Upper Park Road. As revealed in last week's issue of the Observer, the Pembrokeshire County Council project involves a four-storey residential development with new public toilets, new tourist information centre and retail outlets on the ground floor. However, some concern was voiced over how the construction work may affect car parking facilities, if the plans receive the thumbs up from the National Park Authority. "My only concern is, will the multi-storey car park remain open while work is being carried out, if the plans are given the go-ahead?" commented Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas. It was agreed to recommend approval of the application, with additional comments also being forwarded to the National Park planners, who are due to discuss the application at their next meeting on February 16.
