Sir,
I am writing to seek the assistance of your readers in helping me to contact the families of two servicemen listed on the Carew War Memorial as First World War casualties.
Private John Austin Llewhellin was killed on November 2, 1917, whilst serving with the Pembrokeshire Yeomanry and is buried in the Beersheba War Cemetery in Israel. He was the only son of George and Mary Llewhellin, of Stephens Green, Milton.
Private Thomas Lewis served with the Welsh Regiment and died of sickness when based at Maindy Barracks in Cardiff. He was the son of James and Sophia Lewis, of 13 North Brewery Street, Pembroke Dock. Thomas had family connections in West Williamston, and after his death was laid to rest in Cathays Cemetery in Cardiff.
I would like to include a brief history, and if possible a photograph of both John Llewhellin and Thomas Lewis in the Parish Records at Carew.
Deric Brock,
30 Milton Meadows,
Milton.
