Sir,
As you will know, the Rugby World Cup is here in New Zealand and Wales are doing very well and winning a lot of friends.
We saw your local boy, Mike Phillips, being interviewed when he was man-of-match on Saturday and I suddenly realised I could look up Whitland on Google maps, as both sides of my family come from there.
I have been in NZ for nearly 50 years and last visited Whitland in 1992 and visited my four grandparents graves at Zoar Chapel up on the hill.
Now on the Google map all I can find is Zoar Chapel Cottage and no obvious sign of the cemetery or chapel. I would like to find out what has happened and would be grateful for any information.
Though all four of my grandparents were buried there, only one died in Whitland, and that was Isaac Rees, I think in 1923, who owned the Emporium at the end of St John Street, which is now the Chinese takeaway (the others died, I think, in 1938, 1940 and 1947).
Colin Griffiths,
Takapuna,
New Zealand.
