Merrixton House Farm,Stepaside, is keeping up its reputation of annual support for Wales Air Ambulance. The Camping and Caravan Club, Worcester and Hereford District Association, recently held a rally at the site and were pleased to raise funds for the charity through a series of coffee mornings and a raffle. The proprietors of Merrixton, George and Margaret Jones, selected the air ambulance to benefit from any fund-raising on the site. George said: "I have always believed in the good work the service does for us in Pembrokeshire and actually saw their professional standards in operation when there was an accident on the Tenby road involving a cyclist this Easter." "I was impressed with the quick response and care of the cyclist and intend to go on doing our bit with fund-raising," added Margaret, famous for her home-baked cakes, who has actively supported the Wales Air Ambulance local events and is now going on to become a registered volunteer. Mike Sherlock, on behalf of the Worcester and Hereford District Association, presented Hilary Harvey, of WAA, with £222.27, and the group were able to hear a little of the work of the pilots and paramedics, including an account of a patient from the county who is pleased to have his story told, as he is alive and well thanks to the service. Hilary told the group: "Yours is a very active group and you obviously had fun raising this amount. We really appreciate the donation. Margaret and George have ensured that our fund-raising has had a boost from the holidaymakers at Merrixton for many years now. It will be great to work with Margaret in our local community of volunteers and September is a special month for us with our Golden Hour Challenge in the last week."
