Following the success of last year's Alcohol Misuse Enforcement Campaign in tackling alcohol fuelled crime and disorder, Dyfed Powys Police will be taking part in this year's national campaign during May and June.
During this period, the police in Pembrokeshire will therefore be focusing on alcohol related disorder and in addition to high visibility patrols, police officers will target various venues during the football World Cup, including regular visits to licensed premises.
The police will be working in partnership with the Local Authority and Trading Standards to deal effectively with offences against the Licensing Act and there will be regular liaison with licensees to ensure that all licensed premises are managed responsibly.
Furthermore, the campaign will intentionally focus on domestic violence which continues to be a high volume and serious crime affecting far too many people within the county.
It is well known that alcohol affects judgement and attitude and people are urged to consider carefully the amount of alcohol they drink.
Superintendent Euros Lewis, head of operations in Pembrokeshire, said: "This is not about preventing people enjoying themselves. However, it must be realised that over-indulgence, which invariably leads to disorder and domestic violence, affects the quality of life of many other people.
"People must know their limits and drink sensibly," he continued. "Excessive drinking can lead to anti- social behaviour that can in turn lead to arrest, prosecution and even hospitalisation.
"I can assure the public therefore that anti-social behaviour, disorder and domestic violence will not be tolerated and anyone who cares to over-indulge and ignore this advice should realise that they will have to face the consequences."
