This was the second year that the Caldey Swim was organised by the Tenby Sea Swimming Association (TSSA), which has staged the town's legendary Boxing Day Swim for over 40 years.
"We're delighted with the response to Caldey Swim, which we are proud to be able to hold in such an iconic location," said TSSA chairman, Chris Osborne.
"We are very grateful to our sponsors - Princes Gate Water, Big Brum's, Milford Haven Port Authority and SkyCam Wales - and all the individuals and organisations who helped us to ensure we provided the essential safety cover.
"These included the Caldey boats and their skippers, Tenby Sailing Club, Saundersfoot Sailing Club, Tenby Sea Cadets, Pembrokeshire Paddlers and Tenby Surf Lifesaving Club.
"And our grateful thanks go to Father Daniel and the monks on Caldey Island for allowing us to start our event from their beautiful location on a Sunday."
The grand total of £7,272 has been raised from the swim, with £2,272 paid direct to the RNLI and £5,000 being presented at Tenby lifeboat station on Friday.
Joanna Bouzk from Gloucester raised £1,183.37 to be the highest-sponsored swimmer, and she received the Fourcroft prize.
Paul Thomas (£451) was awarded the Plantaganet prize, while Anna Buckland (£326) was given the Jago prize.
