Caldey Island has closed to visitors for the winter season following severe weather forecasts.

The monastic island shared on social media, during the half term holidays: “We are sorry to announce that Caldey Island is now closed for the winter.

“Due to the weather forecast this week we have decided to cancel any further sailings for the safety of our passengers.

“Thank you to all that visited us and supported the island this year and we hope to see you all again from Easter 2026!

“Don’t worry though, we’ll still keep you updated on island life throughout the winter. Nos da o Ynys Bŷr.”

This year, for the first time in its history, Caldey also opened to visitors on Sundays throughout the summer holidays.
