Tenby inshore lifeboat launched at 3 pm on Friday after Milford Haven Coastguard received a report that four people were cut off by the tide on the north side of Monkstone point. The ILB was quickly on scene and took the people off the rocks. As they were doing so, they noticed that there were also people cut off on the middle rock of Monkstone Point. After making sure that the second group were in no danger, the lifeboat dropped the first group at Saundersfoot Harbour where they were met by coastguards. The lifeboat then returned to Monkstone Point and picked up the remaining three people and landed them on Monkstone Beach where they were also met by members of the coastguard team. The inshore lifeboat then returned to station. On Sunday, the ILB crew were paged at 1 pm during the annual open day to assist the RNLI beach lifeguards in treating a casualty who had collapsed with a suspected heart attack on Tenby's North Walk. The crew were quickly on scene and assisted with treatment of the casualty until an ambulance and RAF Sea King Helicopter 169 arrived. The casualty was then airlifted to hospital. Meanwhile, the ILB was launched again at 8.30 pm after a report that one person was cut off by the tide under the lifeboat station. The lifeboat was soon on scene and took the casualty off the rocks. He was then taken back to Tenby Harbour, before the lifeboat was rehoused. Both lifeboats were launched at 9 am on Monday to evacuate a sick casualty from Caldey Island. The ALB had two paramedics aboard and also Tenby Coastguard Team in case a helicopter landing site needed to be set-up. Once alongside at Caldey, the casualty was taken aboard the lifeboat where he was assessed by the paramedics whilst en route back to Tenby. The lifeboat was rehoused and the casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Another Busy Day
And it was another busy day on Tuesday. The ILB launched at 12.06 pm after a report from Tenby South Beach RNLI lifeguards who were concerned for the safety of a swimmer who was midway between Tenby and Caldey Island. The lifeboat was quickly on scene and took the swimmer on board the lifeboat. He informed the crew that he was training for the forthcoming Ironman Wales competition. He was taken back to Tenby. Then at 4.05 pm, Tenby allweather lifeboat Haydn Miller was requested to launch by Milford Haven Coastguard and proceed to Broadhaven beach, where a number of people had become trapped by the tide. On arrival, the lifeboat crew found that a number of people had been guided to safety by the local coastguard rescue team. In the meantime, at 4.20 pm, the inshore lifeboat had launched on service to the Monkstone area where one adult and one child had become cut off on rocks. The ALB made best speed back to Monkstone and stood off in the choppy sea conditions while the volunteer crew in the inshore lifeboat safely recovered the two people from the rocks and took them back to the lifeboat station. Members of Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team were also in attendance.
