Pupils at Stepaside School have had a busy summer term, with lots of special achievements and activities taking place.
Friends of the School organised a summer fete last Sunday and the school field was bustling with activities. Stalls were provided by the 'Friends' , pupils and staff, all adding to a non-stop afternoon of carnival games and excitement. It was a great community event.
Year 6 pupils collected academic awards and are to be commended for their hard work throughout the year. Music awards were also presented to those pupils who showed improvement and who supported the school orchestra.
The school swimming gala held on Friday was a great success. Junior pupils swam in a wide variety of events, and congratulations this year go to Rosslyn House.
Also on Friday, Lewis Evans and Rachel Johns represented the school at the prestigious Welsh Heritage Awards ceremony in Aberystwyth. Year 3 won a certificate and prize donated by the National Trust for work on a history project based on the Stepaside Heritage Trail.
Class Six, meanwhile, were awarded their cycling proficiency certificates. Thanks for all the hard work in training the pupils goes to Mrs. Karen Snape, the schools' road safety officer.
Years 5 and 6 also presented their end of term musical production, Robin Hood. All gave a spirited performance.
Finally, on a sporting note, the girls' long-awaited football strip arrived and was presented by Bergoni sports wear for the girls who participated in the Girls Cymru Challenge which took place at Tenby's Greenhill School earlier in the year.
Infant pupils have also been very energetic this term, participating in the Tenby area district sports. The boys team were joint winners with Tenby infants. Gold medallists were Harry Thomas for sack race and distance, Becky Gwyther for long race and Thomas James for egg and spoon. Silver medallists were Michael Lewis in the obstacle race, George Woodhead for egg and spoon, Becky Gwyther for the skipping race and Charlotte Jenkins, bronze medal for the egg and spoon.
