Tenby’s Mayor has enjoyed a busy summer attending may events in the resort, offering special praise for the charity organisations behind the Summer Spectaculars and also local firefighters for hosting another successful carnival for the resort.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Mayor Clr. Tony Brown told his colleagues that the Summer Spectaculars held down the resort’s harbour had raised a ‘fantastic’ amount of money for charity.
“The amount of people supporting the events was once again incredible!” he said.
“The carnival celebrating it’s 100th anniversary was also really well organised and supported as always - and as expected, I did get a little bit wet!”
Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane said that special praise should be afforded to firefighter Lee Simmons for all his hard work in organising the celebrations around the carnival anniversary and producing the ‘100 Years of Tenby Carnival’ book.
The Mayor also wished longstanding Tenby firefighter ‘Jammy’ James a happy retirement, expressing gratitude for his service to the local community down the years.
“It was great too that the Caldey Swim managed to get off over the weekend - another great event for Tenby and really nicely organised,” continued Clr. Brown.
“I also attended a concert by Tenby Male Choir last week - which was brilliant. I didn’t know they would be so hysterical too, it was like watching an old Goon Show! But well done to them for raising over £1,000,” he added.
