Local butchers Albert Rees Ltd are ‘absolutely thrilled’ to be shortlisted for Retail Business of the Year – and their very own Matthew Rees a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year - at the Carmarthenshire Business Awards 2025!

Carmarthen Deli by Albert Rees, based in Carmarthen Market Hall and at every Friday at Pembroke Dock Market, is a family business that has been trading for six generations and is justly proud of its signature product, Carmarthen Ham.

On learning of the two placements in the finals for this year’s Camarthenshire Business Awards, Chris Rees said: “It’s an honour to be recognised among some of the best businesses in the county – and a huge thank you to our amazing customers, team, and supporters who’ve helped us get here.”

They will be heading to Parc Y Scarlets on July 11 to tell their story to the judges. In their category they are up against Burns Retail & Hospitality Ltd, Quicksilver Jewellery and Rook Stores Ltd, while Matthew vies for Entrepreneur of the year with Jamie Stedman (Fitter Body Ladies Llanelli) and Ioan Dillon (Lean Kitchen).

The Carmarthenshire Business Awards were created to celebrate and honour this remarkable community, shining a spotlight on the ventures—big and small—that are making a significant impact in the county

This year’s glamorous black-tie event will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Parc Y Scarlets. The evening begins at 6.30pm with a drinks reception, followed by a delicious three-course dinner, and then the much-anticipated awards ceremony. It’s set to be an unforgettable night of celebration, connection, and recognition for the thriving business community of Carmarthenshire.
