Bluestone National Park Resort is to launch its very own Monopoly Game to mark its 10th anniversary in July.
But to create its exclusive version, the popular resort is asking guests to help come up with ideas for place names and unique Bluestone aspects for the iconic game.
Broadly accepted as the world’s most popular board game Monopoly sees its players roll two six-sided dice to move around the game-board buying and trading properties, and develop them with houses and hotels.
Players collect rent from their opponents, with the goal being to be the wealthiest property landlord.
“As family resort, this is the perfect partnership for us, to team up with one of the world’s most popular family games,” said head of sales and marketing Yvonne Buckingham.
“We are really excited to work with Monopoly and launch what will be an exclusive game and a great way for us to celebrate 10 years of Bluestone.”
For Bluestone Monopoly, the idea is to switch the upmarket London property locations like Mayfair and Park Lane for some of our stunning lodge areas.
“Ultimately, this is a game for our guests, so we want to get them on board (forgive the pun) with ideas from the start.”
As staples of the game, money can also be gained or lost through Chance and Community Chest cards, and tax squares; players can end up in jail, which they cannot move from until they have met one of several conditions.
“Monopoly has numerous house rules and hundreds of different editions exist, but never before has there been a Bluestone edition,” said sales and marketing manager Glenn Hewer.
“But as will all things at Bluestone, we are working with our thousands of guests to come up with the best possible format to make this the perfect edition of Monopoly that all of the family will enjoy.
“We are looking for ideas as to how we might recreate the ‘chance’ and ‘Community Chest’ cards, where we hope they will come up with a quirky alternative to these traditional cards.”
Glenn said that the new game may also need a new Bluestone playing piece.
“As well as all the iconic playing pieces, we thought it might be nice to have one piece that really captures what Bluestone is all about, and we are launching a competition to seek ideas.”
The winner has the chance of seeing their ideas created as part of the new game, as well as being invited to its launch in July. They will also be presented with their very own copy of the new Bluestone Monopoly.
Ideas can be shared via the Bluestone Facebook page or via twitter, using the hashtag #BluestoneMonopoly
