A COAST-themed cocktail has been shortlisted for a national award, placing its Pembrokeshire producer alongside some of the biggest names in the drinks industry.

Barti's Sea Buckthorn Fizz is a finalist in the Alcoholic Drinks category at The Grocer New Product Awards 2026.

The awards celebrate the UK's standout new food and drink products, with entries judged by an independent panel of industry experts on everything from taste and innovation to overall product quality.

The awards shortlist also features well-known brands including Smirnoff, Carling, Cointreau, MOTH and Damm.

Francesca Barnikel, MD said:

"To see a small independent brand from Pembrokeshire shortlisted in another hugely respected competition is incredible. To be alongside some of the biggest drinks companies in the world is something we're incredibly proud of. We're only a very small team on the edge of West Wales, so it all feels a little bit crazy."

The nomination follows a strong year for Barti's canned cocktail range, with Sea Buckthorn Fizz already picking up Gold and Global Style Winner honours at the World Drinks Awards.

It’s one of three rum-based cocktails launched by Barti in February this year, including Barti, Ginger & Lemon Iced Tea and Barti & Apple — each flavour inspired by the Welsh coastline where Barti was born.

Sea buckthorn is a hardy, bright orange berry that thrives in nutrient-poor soil along the coast. Yet it provides a crisp citrus flavour and tropical character rarely seen in alcoholic drinks and almost unheard of in ready-to-drink serves.

The can is designed by local artist Tom Frost, the walking puffin inspired by the puffins of Skomer.
