Sir, As a group who has been formed for over four years with over 1,000 members we decided to ask Tenby Town Council how they could approve a pre-planning application when there was so little details. Unfortunately we were not able to voice our concerns, but listen.

Clr. Mrs Christine Brown went through the history of the Brynhir site which we are very much aware of. The land has been on the LDP since 1974 and is due to fall out of the current LDP, hence PCC have put in a pre-planning application. If this wasn’t the case the land would be financially redundant.

TTC stated that PCC could have made a lot more money, if they had sold the land on the open market. The reason that this didn’t happen was due to the fact that no developer was interested in purchasing, as it was not financially viable. Even if the developer had the land for free, it was still not something they were looking at.

In 2010 it would have cost £28 million pounds to build. Now the question is after reading their draft financial statement for 2018-2019, how are PCC going to afford to break-even looking at the HRA account (Housing Revenue Account); the accounts look rather bleak.

Clr. Blackhall was very passionate about the fact that we needed housing for local people, then why have PCC sold 1.3million worth of council housing in the period from April 2018 to March 2019. The number of empty properties in Wales is up 40 per cent to 27,000 empty properties. This is a wasted resource and these should be brought back into use.

We were also very shocked by the fact that TTC passed a planning application put forward by a home owner in Lady Park without even seeing the plans; each and every councillor put their hands up, although they had no copies of the plans in front of them!

We are not against affordable housing; we are against destroying this beautiful piece of green space. The LUC reports that there are other brownfield sites available, why not buy empty properties instead of them being sold as second homes and why on earth sell 1.3 million of council properties.
