Sir,

As the fight to save the Minor Injuries Unit at Tenby gathers pace, another equally detrimental issue to the health and wellbeing of people in need starts to raise its ugly head.

I refer to planning application NP/13/0093 which proposes to site a waste recycling and disposal centre not just at the gateway to Tenby and Saundersfoot, not just within a peaceful community, but right next to an already established specialist care unit for patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease - a disease for which there is no known cure, a disease which worsens as it progresses and which requires 24-hour qualified care in a strictly controlled environment.

I do not wish to start a political debate on the shortcomings of Pembrokeshire County Council's ruling Independent Plus Group (not to be confused with Independent unaffiliated members), but I would like to make it absolutely clear that this is a group who hide their true political affiliations and who are right now making decisions which will affect each and every one of us.

When I asked the council leader Jamie Adams if planning advice had been sought at the PCC full council meeting of February 28, I was rather flippantly told to view the planning application.

Unfortunately, the planning application was not available for viewing as it had not been validated at that time. This is the very attitude that presents us with this outrageous planning proposal to construct this industrial facility right next to Brooklands.

I respectfully ask that members of the public visit the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority website and input the planning reference above and register any concerns they may have directly to the authority or alternatively write directly to PCNP at Llanion Park, Pembroke Dock, SA72 6DY, quoting planning reference NP/13/0093.

Please also be mindful of the fact that previous planning advice was sought for this site to build a toilet block for campers - the advice was a refusal.

Likewise, advice was also sought to site a Kingdom Hall for Jehovah's Witnesses on the very same land which was also met with refusal.

Local politicians are elected to act in the best interests of their communities. To sell the land which currently accommodates the civic amenities site at The Salterns prior to the outcome of the planning application would surely be an act of quite acute arrogance even for the current Independent Plus Group; however, I am currently waiting for confirmation that this may well be the case. I can not stress enough how vitally important it is to act now in opposition to this planning application.
