Nearly 100 Otters supporters enjoyed a rare treat recently when they had the pleasure of meeting not just one, but two British Lions when the club received a visit from former Welsh internationals Robert Jones and Brynmor Williams - thanks to Narberth RFC sponsorship committee member Janet Phillips, who facilitated the introduction of the two greats to the club.
Both stars are directors of Thomas and Carroll - a multi-discipline risk consultancy company covering business insurance, personal insurance financial services, health, safety and employment law.
In two separate speeches, Robert and Brynmor recalled events in their distinguished rugby careers which were interspersed with many amusing experiences, much to the delight of the audience.
Afterwards, members were given the opportunity of putting questions to the illustrious guests - which they did with enthusiasm.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening was former Otters player and now sponsorship committee member, Bill Ridge. '
"It's been a smashing occasion." said Otters chairman John Owen. "We are grateful to the Thomas, Carroll Group for sponsoring the evening and especially to Robert and Brynmor for giving up their time to give us a really splendid evening."
An excellent meal was provided by the club steward, Anne Lonsdale, and her staff, and those present left very much hoping that further such evenings will follow in the future.
