Since the Tenby Energy Savers Open Day, we have begun signing up businesses, farms and community buildings for free energy check visits.
There is still plenty of opportunity for you to sign up. Either ring me, Jo Brookman, on (01834) 862119, or email me at [email protected]">[email protected] or come along to the Energy Savers Open Day at the Regency Hall in Saundersfoot tomorrow (Saturday).
You will also have the opportunity to get further advice on energy saving, and it will be a great chance to see solar and wind power in action from the Educan trailer in the car park! Also see a car that runs on vegetable oil!
In a previous edition I promised to give you a few of my favourite and easy energy saving tips. Well here are just a few:
Always turn off the lights when you leave a room. Don't leave appliances on standby and remember not to leave appliances on charge unnecessarily. Only boil as much water as you need (but remember to cover the elements if you're using an electric kettle).
A dripping hot water tap wastes energy and in one week wastes enough water to fill half a bath, so fix leaking taps and make sure they're fully turned off!
Replace your light bulbs with energy saving ones; just one can reduce your lighting costs by up to £78 over the lifetime of the bulb - and they last up to 12 times longer than ordinary light bulbs. And of course you can fill in and return the home energy check form that should have come through most doors in Tenby, New Hedges and Saundersfoot.
Just answer the simple questions and return the form in the freepost envelope and we'll send you an impartial report telling you how you can save up to £250 a year on your household energy bills and a voucher for a free energy saving light bulb that you can claim at Morris Brothers in Tenby and most Post Offices in the area.
See you at the Open Day tomorrow!
