The annual Boxing Day charity rugby match in aid of the Gareth Scotcher Trust Fund sadly became a victim of the big freeze.

The match, scheduled for Sunday, had to be cancelled due to the snow, frost and a frozen rugby pitch, which was a great shame and very disappointing.

However, a new date is to be arranged shortly so the Tenby Utd 1st XV v The Tenby Barbarians will go ahead before the end of the 2011 rugby season.

Various dates are at present being considered, one such date being the Bank Holiday Easter Monday, which organisers Matt Evans and Chris Brace are sure will be just as big an event if not bigger.

"As soon as we have a new date, we will confim this through the Observer and the Tenby Barbarian website," they said this week.

If any player registered and paid through the Tenby Barbarian website, then they will automatically be re-registered for the re-arranged match or if they are unavailable to play on the re-arranged date, then a full refund will be provided.

Added Chris: "Matt and I would like to thank all the people and businessess that supported us in our efforts to hold the charity Boxing Day match in aid of the Gareth Scotcher Trust Fund and all have pledged to provide the same support for the re-arranged game."
