League party

The Pembrokeshire ladies end-of-season party to congratulate the very successful Tenby ladies on their league success was held at the club last week.

The Tenby ladies were the very busy hosts, inviting many lady bowlers from many well-known clubs of West Wales.

It was a very well-attended occasion and the Tenby ladies laid on a very fine feast.

Prior to the start of the entertainment, chairman of the Pembroke County Two Wood League, Diana Davies, of Pembroke Dock, and secretary, Gloria Dugmore (Saundersfoot), both  congratulated the very skilful Tenby team on winning the league for the second year on the trot. They were led by captain, Mrs. Lynn Delabertouche, accompanied by past WWLBA president, Mrs. Audrey Owens, (vice-captain).

All members wished the new WWLBA president, Beryl Haddock, good luck for the imminent season 2010.

Gloria was outstanding in announcing the very well presented and very humorous and interesting 'turns'. Several events were very thoughtfully turned out and there were the usual gales of giggles.

The Tenby ladies were determined to match any of the rest on the entertainment front and led by Irene Silcox, they put on a dazzling display.

Chairman John Baggott and his aides did an excellent job keeping the wheels well oiled, ensuring that the thirsts were well quenched.

Happy Birthday

Mr. President!

Happy Birthday to club president Bert Barnikel who celebrates his 80th birthday tomorrow (Saturday).

B.B. has not not been enjoying the best of health since the bowls season ended, but all members and friends are pleased he is now on the mend and back enjoying his bridge and whist.

All Bert's hard work in the club over the years was highlighted at the recent club dinner when former president Lewis Hilling paid tribute to Bert, who has held all the major offices in the club, and all his sterling work.

Many happy returns Bert - enjoy your special birthday.
