Darts defeat
The eagerly-anticipated local derby against the Sailing Club proved to be as thrilling as was expected.
Single wins by Phil, Mike and Tony left the match evenly poised as the doubles took to the oche.
Unfortunately, despite some good darts, the Sailing Club edged ahead to win the match 5-4.
Many thanks to Terry and his band of nautical helpers for a wonderful evening's entertainment.
Next up are the Swan A early in the new year.
Flying the Flag
Due to the generosity of our neighbours and the diligence of our current hard-working members, Archie Rafferty, Tony Brown and Alan Redman, our club is now sporting a couple of beautiful new flagpoles.
The patriotic flying of flags seems to have diminished in the new millennium, but not in our club, be it sponsors or touring county sides or even Welsh presidents, their flags are proudly flown alongside ours with pride.
Bonus ball winners
Wednesday, December 10 - Olive Frost and Ginnie Beeken; Saturday, December 13 - Maria and Simon Evans.
Dear Rose
Rose Handicott, long-serving member of our club, has sadly slipped away. Rose followed her husband into the Tenby Bowling Club and was a demon bowler for many years, winning many prizes. If you could beat Rose, you had made it as a bowler way back in the 1970s
Rose helped out where she could, even though she was heavily involved in running the family business. Her final few years were spent supporting her mate Joan Dorling in running the year-round whist drives, a regular feature of the bowling social scene. Like Joan, she was made a life member in recognition of many years service to Tenby bowling.
Another New broom
Refreshed from his end of term holiday, the new captain of the Five Arches team, Ken Lloyd, is girding his loins early, sussing out potential team members for 2009.
Ken is inviting all likely team members to join him at the Tenby House Hotel, one of our main sponsors, for a light lunch and a chat, on Monday, December 22, at approximately 12.30.
Please let Ken know if you are going, the pub needs a rough idea of the numbers. Ring Ken on 843846.
