The end is nigh!

The 88th bowling season of the Tenby Bowling Club draws to an end.

A distant memory now are the frenetic jumble of umpteen friendly matches, when our members entertained many touring sides, winning most. Still etched on our minds is the victorious charge of all of our league teams as they brushed aside tough opposition.

First has to be the Tenby first division side, led by  captain Dai Spencer, winning the Pembroke County Division One League Shield, long before the season had finished. A magnificent achievement.

Hot on their heels was the Tenby/Five Arches Ladies, led by captain Lynn Delabertouche. They gave an awesome display of skill all season to win the Pembroke County Ladies Trophy.

Mike Gouldingay and his Five Arches stalwarts nearly made it a clean sweep, just missing out by five shots (out of thousands).

Even the Meyrick Owen teams, Goscar and St. Mary's, led by Ray Hine, amazed everyone by coming first and second.

The combination of up-and-coming youth with some of our senior bowlers gelled well.

The final act of this season will be the annual general meeting on Wednesday, November 19, at 7 pm sharp. All members are requested to make every effort to attend, what should be a celebratory evening. Current management team is reminded that there is a committee meeting next Tuesday, November 11, at 7 pm.

Darts

After the magic of the cup, it was back to league action against the Swanlake B last Friday.

Phil Watkins continued his unbeaten run with another fine win in the singles, but to no avail, as the rest of the team all managed to lose.

Good wins in the doubles by John and Mike and Archie and Tony brought some respectability to the score, but the bowlers finally succumbed by six games to three.

It subsequently emerged, however, that the Swanlake team included an unregistered player and a 6-0 victory (along with the 1001 and masters) has been awarded to the club.

Away to the Parsonage tonight (Friday) - time for another win!
