This year, the club has decided to use the Corals Tournament on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30, to raise funds for the Phuket Children's Orphanage in Sir Lanka (see separate article in this week's Observer for full details). "We are pleased to say the sponsors Bill Simmonds, Corals area manager, and Andrew, of Acorn Leisure, were all in agreement with our decision," said organiser, Sam McNeilly. He continued: "To off-set the prize money, we are pleased to inform everyone that we have been given an excellent substitute prize from Powells Cottage Holidays, Saundersfoot. "It is for one week in a thatched cottage in Devon. It sleeps six and there are generous dates to choose from. "Full details will be posted, with the tournament information, prior to the club's opening day." The tournament is open pairs, of any gender i.e, all male/female or mixed. "It will be open to Saundersfoot and Pembroke Dock clubs, as both clubs have helped out in previous years," added Sam. The donation entry fee will be £10 a pair, and those wishing to part, can give their names, (it must be in pairs) to Mac on 844843, Mike on 843179 or Ron on 843377. Details of payment and rules will be advised then.
