All of you gardeners must have noticed the almost freakish surge of life amongst your flowers and shrubs. The pulse of the bowling fraternity has also increased in tempo of late. We are to have one of our popular coffee and cake stall mornings on Saturday, January 31, at 10 am.

It will be the perfect time to pay your bowling fees, as this is a difficult time for the treasurer.

Perhaps we are to have another wonderful summer in which to celebrate the club's 80th anniversary.

The fixtures are ready for the printer, thanks to our hard working fixture secretary, David Spencer, and once again the Clarence Hotel is generously sponsoring the cost of them.

Some of the highlights are a 24-hour bowls marathon, commencing on Friday, June 18, at 6 pm. All bowls bowled on the green to be counted. The whole of Tenby will be invited to guess the actual number bowled and the nearest prediction will win a handsome prize.

The Welsh Women's Bowling Association president, Betty Cross, of Llanidloes, is bring a representative Welsh ladies team to play the Tenby girls, so there will be plenty of bowling for all members this coming season... and we are also in the market for new members.

All new members are encouraged with three free bowling lessons, young, old, girl or boy, all are equally welcome to join one of the most friendly and prestigious clubs in Wales.

  OPEN TOURNAMENTS

Bert Barnikel, like David mentioned above, has been busy preparing the launch of entry forms for all of the open tournaments, which attract bowlers from all over Wales and England.

The combination of the popular tournaments and the Tenby town as a tourist resort has been a winning formula since inception in 1924.

Local bowlers are reminded to respond fairly quickly if they wish to enter any of the open tournaments this coming season because they do fill up rather rapidly, especially the Texaco Trophy, which was full within three weeks last year.
