TENOVUS QUIZ
Our next quiz is on Tuesday, February 25, 7.30 for 8 pm. Please make every effort to support this very worthwhile organisation. Fact: Keeping your brain active prolongs your life.
JUNIOR SQUAD
Over the last two seasons, the club has coached over 100 local school children in the art of lawn-green bowling. Following up on that initiative, the club is forming a junior section this coming season to enable all those potentially talented young bowlers to develop their obvious skills. Captain of this year's Five Arches bowling team, Mike Crockford, one of our more experienced Welsh coaches, is leading the enterprise and will be inviting all the interested children to the Tenby green.
The management team felt that the future of our sport is in our children and we will be investing in our future if we are successful.
OPEN TOURNAMENTS
I am pleased, once again, to announce that entries to the very popular Texaco Trophy tournament, sponsored by Texaco Ltd., Pembroke, have surpassed all expectations and is full. Entries for our prestigious Gold Cup and Silver Bowl, sponsored by Carlsberg/Tetley, are also well advanced.
There is still plenty of room for the Ladies Open Pairs, sponsored by the Tenby House Hotel and Tenby's Famous £1 Shop. Likewise, there is a steady stream of entries for the Mixed Triples, sponsored by Grandiflora, St. Florence, and HSBC, Tenby. There are not many opportunities for lady bowlers in Wales to enter open competitions, especially with such tempting prize monies. The new round-robin format ensures plenty of excitement and lots of bowling, thanks to the generosity of all our sponsors.
The Ladies Open Week, including the Mixed Triples, is in the week August 18 to 22. Entry forms are available from Bert Barnikel (tel: 01834 842944).
