WHITLAND LADIES 48
FIVE ARCHES LADIES 35
The Five Arches ladies, sponsored by Stena Line, were disappointed to return home from their match against Whitland having lost on both rinks.
Despite picking up a four on the last end, Chris Morgan and her girls went down by eight, while Vera Williams and company finished five adrift of the Whitland rink skipped by Andrea Thomas.
Rink scores (Arches first, Whitland skips only) were:
P. Stubbs, J. Bancroft, V. James, C. Morgan 18; E. Pratt 26.
B. Russell, M. Cooke, A. Redman, V. Williams 17; A. Thomas 22.
TENBY FIVE ARCHES
The Stena sponsored Five Arches played a rearranged league match at Saundersfoot last Tuesday and again flattered to deceive. At the halfway stage they were well in the game, but collapsed dramatically in the latter stages of the match and were convincingly beaten by the high-flying Saundersfoot squad, who are fighting it out with Tenby and Haverfordwest for the first division championship.
Three Five Arches rinks lost by sizeable margins. Only the captain's rink, who had a great battle with the Steve Poole squad, performed well and in the end lost a tight game by only three shots.
Tomorrow (Saturday) the Arches are away to Whitland and with only three matches left every point is vital.
Rink scores (Five Arches first, Saundersfoot skips only):
R. Hurlow, G. Hill, A. Grimbaldeston, K. Hubbard 8; D. Poole 32.
M. Donoghue, C. Guymer, R. Hughes, M. Crockford 9; Don Poole 30.
B. Barnikel, J. Tyler, D. Silcox, D. King Thomas 12; B. Dennis 30.
B. Russell, T. Powling, G. Beynon, R. Powling 18; S. Poole 21.
TENBY 93
HAVERFORDWEST 34
This top-of-the-table clash turned out to be a very good win for Jones and Jones sponsored Tenby.
Pat's rink all played well against J. Dockerty's boys, with Reders having an excellent game, winning 23-11.
It as the same on rink three for Andrew's crew, all having steady games to come out victors 27-12.
A good second-half by Dai and Terry with 'Gently Bently' Webbie and Paul having good performances saw them to a 22-17 win on rink four.
An outstanding performance by Dai Newth, backed up by good play from Ian, Ben and Dave, gave them a fine 21-14 win against PDS.
So a much-needed fullhouse of 14 points was the outcome of what was expected to be a much closer game.
Rink scores (Tenby first, Haverfordwest skips only):
S. McNeilly, A. Redman, P. Day, P. Currie 23; J. Dockerty 11.
I. Badham, B. Owens, D. Newth, D. Morgan 21; P. D. S. Jenkins 14.
D. Spencer, T. Preston, J. Webb, P. Diment 22; R. Fairhurst 17.

TENBY 101
MILFORD 62
Sunday saw the Jones and Jones sponsored Tenby team put in a similar performance to the previous day, dropping only one point against Milford.
Dave, Andrew and Pat's rinks all managed scores well in the 20s, but Paul's boys unfortunately dropped a four on the last end to tie 19-19.
Please excuse the rather short summary of this game, but your correspondent had to take his tribe to the Summer Spectacular straight afterwards and was unable to gain comments from the skips. Normal service resumes next game.
Rink scores (Tenby first, Milford skips only):
I. Badham, B. Owens, D. Newth, D. Morgan 26; D. Griffiths 16.
