Nick Bourne, leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the National Assembly and Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, has welcomed the recommendations made by the Planning Inspector into the pedestrianisation of Tenby. In his report, the Inspector recommended a further trial be carried out to assess the implications of providing unfettered access to residential and business properties within the walled town, including the harbour, though on the basis that a central core area be maintained vehicle free. Nick Bourne said: "I very much welcome the recommendations of the Planning Inspector into the pedestrianistion of Tenby. "There is no doubt in my mind that the current traffic restrictions are excessive with considerable inconvenience being caused to local residents, businesses and harbour users in the walled town. "It is essential this further study takes into account the legitimate requirements of local people to go about their business without undue inconvenience and disruption."
