As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), police confirmed that a body found in the sea off Tenby was that of a 23-year-old missing swimmer. The body of a male person was seen floating in the water approximately five nautical miles offshore in Carmarthen Bay at around 3 pm on Tuesday. It was spotted by the crew of the Environmental Agency's vessel 'Vigilant' who notified HM Coastguard. The body was recovered by the resort's all-weather lifeboat and brought ashore to the lifeboat station. Police named the body as that of Deryn Rhys Telfer from the Rhondda area. Mr. Telfer was reported missing on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 25, having been seen in difficulty whilst swimming in the water at South Beach, Tenby. Subsequent searches carried out by the emergency services failed to locate him. "There are no suspicious circumstances at this stage," said a police spokesperson. HM Coroner for Pembrokeshire has been updated as have the next of kin. A Post Mortem examination is intended to take place today (Friday).
