Boat owners are being given the chance to learn how to protect their vessels at a special event in Tenby.

The Tenby Neighbourhood Policing team are launching Boat Watch at the harbour on Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm.

Boat Watch is a scheme similar to Neighbourhood Watch and encourages boat owners to protect their vessels from thieves and to look out for anything suspicious.

PC Sue Blacklaw-Jones, of Pembrokeshire Community Safety Partnership, said: "Pembrokeshire is a low crime area to live, but it also has an extensive coastline and thieves can take advantage of this to target boats, many of which are left insecure.

"Boat Watch is an opportunity for owners to help each other protect their vessels."

Simple crime prevention advice for boat owners includes removing all valuables and ensuring the boat is secure when leaving it unattended and property marking any easily removed items.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team will also be on hand to give advice on any other issues.
