Tenby has been in full bloom this week for the 32nd annual Tenby in Bloom competition.

With a large number of entries, the judges, Elma John, general manager at Kiln Park, Doris James, of the Atlantic Hotel, and Laurie Dale, of Dales Music, had an extremely busy day on Tuesday viewing the colourful displays.

In the morning, they judged the displays outside the town walls, while after lunch with the Bloom committee at the Fourcroft Hotel, they toured the entries within the walls, before retiring to tot-up the scores.

"Entries were up inside the town walls, but slightly down outside," said Bloom secretary, Jan Griffiths.

"Nevertheless, the judges were very impressed with all the displays."

This year, for the second year running, the Serendipity Holdings Rose Bowl for the overall winner was Wyndham Brace, of 5 Heywood Court, while the committee awarded the Soroptimists Perpetual Trophy for the best retail shop window in the town centre to Melanie Rogers, of Waterloo House.

The new trophy for the best kept street, meanwhile, which was donated by immediate past Mayor of the town, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas, was won by Southciffe Street.

The presentation ceremony for the competition will take place on Thursday, July 22, at the Giltar Hotel, commencing at 10.30 am.
