Next year is set to be another colourful one for Tenby as the resort has been nominated to go forward to represent Wales in the coastal category of next year's Britain in Bloom awards.
Tenby once again enjoyed success in the Wales in Bloom competition this year by winning the title of best 'small country town' for the 25th time.
With the awards ceremony of the annual floral event recently staged at the town's De Valence Pavilion, the Wales in Bloom organisers were so impressed with Tenby's floral displays, which gained the third overall highest score in their own competition, that they have nominated the town for Britain in Bloom 2010.
It's just over 10 years ago that the town was last entered into the competition and Tenby's Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who is also chairman of Tenby In Bloom, is delighted.
"It's blooming marvellous news and we're over the moon," she said.
It just shows that Tenby is going from strength to strength with its floral displays and a big well done to all involved, including Pembrokeshire County Council's gardeners and maintenance department and everyone in the town who has contributed in some way.
"We'll be meeting with Wales in Bloom chairman John Woods in the next few weeks and we hope that everyone in the town gives their support, as always, to the cause over the next few months leading up to the event," added Clr. Mrs. Lane.
Britain in Bloom is one of the largest horticultural campaigns in Europe working all year-round to create a cleaner and greener Britain through community action. Participants can earn top marks in horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation.
There are categories in Britain in Bloom to suit every type of community, from small villages to cities and indeed coastal towns.
