With judging for the Tenby in Bloom and Wales in Bloom contests taking place this week, the town council are hoping that volunteers they have lined up will be able to get approval to start painting street furniture in the town which has been pinpointed for a spruce up.
Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of the council, the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, said there had been a few issues raised by the county council on insurance with regard to the volunteers carrying out the painting, but now this all seemed to be solved and the area maintenance manager had asked how much paint would be required for the project.
Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas said it was a pity the volunteers hadn't been given the go ahead before this week, but they could carry out the work as an extra boost in preparation for the Britian in Bloom judging.
Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter said that she and fellow Tenby in Bloom committee member, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, along with a couple of volunteers had embarked on a successful 'weeding weekend' across the town and urged anyone who spotted a rogue weed on any pavement to lend a hand and remove it!
