The chairman of Tenby in Bloom has said that the voluntary organisation "desperately" needs more manpower to prepare the town for its floral competitions. Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council, Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who is also chairman of the resort's 'in bloom' organisation, asked for more volunteers to come forward to help with floral and environmental issues around the town. "We desperately need more manpower. On Thursday evenings around seven of us get together in a group to tackle some areas, but if we had say another three to four groups to go off and cover other areas, then that would benefit the town tremendously," she commented. Judges for the Wales in Bloom competition were due in the town sometime between July 2 and 17, while Britain in Bloom judging would take place on July 30. The Tenby in Bloom judges would be undertaking their annual walkabout on July 9, the Mayor confirmed. "We're being very very well supported by the community and donations are kindly coming in," she added. Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that her attention had been brought to the deteriorating state of the grounds outside the Tenby Cottage Hospital and requested volunteers to help with weeding and planting in that area.
