Townswomen's Guilds Last week, a group of women from the three Townwomen's Guilds based in Pembrokeshire set off for the Aberavon Beach Hotel to attend the annual general meeting of the South West Wales Federation of Townswomen's Guilds. Mrs. Joy Griffiths (Tenby Guild), chairman, welcomed the national chairman, Mrs. Pam Pollock, and the Federation president, Mrs. Dorothy Thomas. The secretary's report of a successful year included details of the music festival, held in Tenby, a carol service in Pembroke Dock, an antiques fayre, and the quiz which was won by Haverfordwest Guild. Mrs. Margery Rees (Pembroke Borough Guild), secretary, said that undoubtedly the highlight of the year was the service in St. David's Cathedral to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the foundation of Townswomen's Guilds, which grew out of the suffragist movement of the late '20s. After a good lunch, the guest speaker, Mr. Kevin Johns, local broadcaster, actor and one-time minister, had everyone laughing with his humorous talk on the funny side of life. Members have plenty to look forward to in the coming year, including a drama festival in Burry Port on June 16 and the national annual meeting in Cardiff on June 21.
