Five years ago, the late, much missed Doreen Hammersley persuaded a few retired Guiders plus friends to start up a Trefoil Guild in Tenby. The Trefoil Guild is another name for Guiding for adults. There is a saying - once a Guide, always a Guide - and there is much truth in this statement. As we are part of the Lower Landsker Guiding District that became our name and we have gone from strength to strength, and had a lot of fun along the way.

Last Wednesday, we celebrated our fifth birthday with an afternoon tea at Lindholme Hotel. From the first glass of Prosecco, the welcome from Rachel and Chris Thompson was warm and friendly, and the food delicious and too plentiful. It was fitting that we celebrated at Lindholme as Rachel was a Guide and Ranger in Tenby and her mother Joan, ex Division Commissioner, is now one of our members.

We were delighted to welcome a new member, Liz Radford, once a unit helper with Tenby Guides.

Before we got down to the serious business of eating, chairman Margaret raised a toast to Doreen and to the Guild. Margaret was thanked by all members for her hard work and inspirational leadership and for keeping us on the Guiding path.

The gathering ended with a photoshoot which led to much laughter, and Rachel and Chris were thanked again for making it such a brilliant afternoon.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 4, when we will meet at the Hall to finalise arrangements for the Trefoil Wales Annual Meeting to be held at the Regency Hall on April 21.

New members are always welcome. You don’t have to have been a Guide or Brownie, just have an interest in helping the local units and having some fun along the way!
