Mrs. Ann John, of Bro Waldo, Clunderwen, celebrated her 90th birthday last week. She is the first of her family to have reached this age.
Mrs. John is a popular and well-known character in the Clunderwen/Llandissilio area, having been a farmer in Llanycefn for many years. After leaving farming, she drove buses for Jones, Login - at a time when it was unusual for women to be driving buses. Widowed at an early age, Mrs. John has five children (Teifion John, Rhiannon Edwards, Morwen Rowlands, Hafwen John and Dyfrig John), nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She celebrated her birthday in Bala with her daughter, Hafwen, and other family members.
