The public of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock showed their respect for the Armed Forces on Saturday by attending an Armed Forces Day service of thanksgiving held last Saturday morning at the cenotaph in Pembroke.

Veterans, former members of the armed services, current service personnel and Cadet organisations attended the service, organised by Pembroke and Pembroke Dock town councils, with invaluable assistance from the Royal British Legion.

The service was led by Rev. John Gale, with readings by Clr. Miss Mel Phillips (Mayor of Pembroke), and Clr. Peter Kraus (Mayor of Pembroke Dock). Prayers were said by Commander Tony Mason MBE RD* DL (Royal Naval Reserve), Major John Nicholl (Royal Dragoon Guards) and Mr. John Russell (RAF Aircrew Association).

The last post was played by Cindy Hissey, of Pembroke Borough Silver Band.
