Narberth 38 pts. Waunarlwydd 8
Without ever quite reaching the heights in performances achieved in displays of recent weeks, the Otters did enough to earn another bonus point win and were able to run in six tries against a plucky Waunarlwydd side, who punched above their weight throughout the match.
Narberth director of rugby Jonathan Dodd was pleased with the win, but had reservations about the performance.
Commenting, he said: "We are very pleased with the win, but compared with the way we have played in recent weeks the performance was below par.
"I hope that it was the kick in the backside which will see us through to the end of the season.
"It is now important to focus on our next match at UWIC in the hope that we can continue our recent run of scoring tries and collecting bonus points.
"Prop Tom Slater, number eight Jim Kaumaitotoya and lock Alex Jenkins were the pick of the pack, centre Steve Martin was excellent, winger Mark Heywood carried the ball effectively and outside-half Aled Davies organised well.
"It could have been a banana skin match as we have lost against teams this season who are not in the same class as Waunarlwydd."
Waun opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a penalty from outside-half Johnny Davies and with a resilient and well-organised defence, the visitors prevented the Otters form breaking down the barriers.
The Otters needed time to escape the stranglehold, with the first flowing movement coming after 31 minutes when Mark Heywood finished it with a try and, although he cut inside to make the conversion attempt easier, place kicker Aled Davies was off target
Within a minute, fullback Roger Davies touched down for the second unconverted try after a brilliant solo run as he cut a swathe through the Waun defence with a typical darting and weaving run.
In the second half, scrum-half Andrew Davies scored a try after 47 minutes when he was in support of a defence splitting run by Steve Martin, who had been the recipient of a clever inside pass from Aled Davies. It was converted by Aled Davies.
Three other breathtaking tries followed, firstly from replacement flanker Wayne Williams and later by Roger Davies and Andrew Davies, who both picked up their second of the match.
All of the tries after the break were converted by Aled Davies, who kicked successfully from all angles.
Jim Kaumaitotoya was chosen as man-of-the-match by the sponsors, the Narberth Former Players Association and the Templeton Supporters.
Narberth fielded: Roger Davies Nick Jones, Steve Martin, Richard Davies, Mark Heywood, Aled Davies, Andrew Davies, Tom Slater, Gareth Jones (Dan Smith), Justin Hughes, capt., (Sean Lloyd), Alex Jenkins, Chris James, Gareth Bateman, Simon Griffiths (Wayne Williams) and Jim Kaumaitotoya.
