A fundraising evening is taking place at the Begelly Arms next Friday in aid of a Saundersfoot man who has been diagnosed with a rare eye condition. Twenty-one-year-old Lloyd Davies, a former pupil at Manorbier School and Greenhill School in Tenby, was recently diagnosed with Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), a condition where symptoms usually begin with a sudden, painless loss of central vision. In May, Lloyd was given his Certificate of Visual Impairment, and has since been offered a place at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford, where he hopes to start in September. In support of Lloyd, a fundraising night of live music and entertainment has been organised to take place at the Begelly Arms on Friday, September 26, at 7.30 pm. Performing on the night will be The Shambolics, a group of local musicians who have got together for the evening, along with Sandalwood and James Hinchliffe. Tickets are £10, including food, and all money raised will go to supporting Lloyd and his family who now face huge challenges ahead due to this rare condition. For tickets, contact Rod on 01834 813552 or Alex on 01834 812122. Tickets are also available at Bronwen's, The Mermaid on the Strand in Saundersfoot or from The Begelly Arms.
