On Saturday and Sunday, Herons Brook golf course held its first 36-hole strokeplay competition and the settled weekend weather resulted in some very impressive rounds of golf.
The leader board after Saturday's round showed Nick Beere in front on an extremely impressive seven under par, having a three-stroke advantage over second place Steve Preston, with Steve Price and Mike Dummer tying for third on one under par.
On the Sunday, Mike Dummer pulled out all the stops to achieve the best second round score of five under par early on and so all eyes were on the final pairing.
The pressure did seem to get to the overnight leader on the final holes, with Nick Beere dropping shots on the 17th and 18th, but still achieving a very respectable par round, and as a result beating Mike Dummer by one stroke, with Steve Preston achieving third on three under par.
