A Persimmon Homes sales advisor will run a marathon and two half marathons in aid of a Pembrokeshire animal charity.
Becky Lewis from Kilgetty will follow up her runs in Verona, Italy, and Berlin, Germany, by taking on the challenge of a full marathon in Inverness in September.
Greenacres Animal Rescue at Talbenny, Haverfordwest, will benefit from Becky’s efforts and to boost her fundraising target her challenge has been selected by Persimmon Homes West Wales as part of its Community Champions initiative, with £300 going towards the cause.
The not-for-profit charity helps give cats, dogs and many other animals another chance with some facing the prospect of being destroyed by the authorities.
Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves. Nationwide the company will donate a total of £750,000.
Becky said: “I know just how important the work that Greenacres Animal Rescue do is.
“I had two Collies and sadly one died last year. I got another Collie from the rescue to keep my other dog company and I then adopted a Labrador as well.
“They work so hard to rescue dogs and I wanted to raise money by running these marathons and the money from Community Champions will be of so much help to them.”
Becky will also be running on behalf of St. Peter’s Hospice in Bristol and Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum in Tetbury.
Sharon Robinson, sales director for Persimmon Homes West Wales, added: “Greenacres Animal Rescue is a fantastic charity and we wanted to do all we could to support them.
“Becky is taking on a huge challenge which shows how important the charity is to her and she knows we will be backing her all the way.
“As always it was a difficult decision to select our Community Champions, but I would encourage any charity or organisation that missed out this time, even if they have won previously, to apply again.”
