Drivers authorised to use vehicles on Tenby's beaches are to be advised to keep their speed down after concerns were raised that too many were 'zooming' around the sands.
Speaking at a recent meeting of the town council, Deputy Mayor, Clr. Paul Rapi said that he was 'gobsmacked' to see so many vehicles speeding around the South Beach when he visited there one afternoon recently with his family which included two small children.
At Tuesday's meeting of the town council, the clerk Mr. Andrew Davies told members that he had contacted Pembrokeshire County Council's leisure services manager Chris Payne on the issue, who said that as far as he was concerned, advice was give to staff to drive at a low speed and to take due care and attention depending on beach conditions and how busy it was.
Mr. Payne also said that both the RNLI and county council staff were trained in driving of road and in being aware of their surroundings.
Mayor, Clr. Sue Lane, asked if the staff using the vehicles could be reminded of the rules.
