A two-day ‘Beach Art Festival’ has been proposed for Amroth and Wiseman’s Bridge this summer.

The possibility of the event which would either be held one day at each location or two days at Amroth, during the first week of August, was recently discussed by members of Amroth Community Council.

The total cost of the proposed Festival would be £2,940 for which the Community Council would be asked to match 20 per cent, amounting to £588, which councillors agreed to.

While councillors were generally supportive of the idea as it fitted with the Clean Seas environmental message (highlighted by the 14-foot Bertie the Bass sculpture which sits in the seaside village) it was suggested that alternative funding be sought from local business or other funders by the organiser to limit the cost liability on the Community Council.

It was also suggested that a later date in September may be a better option to include local school children and attract visitors to Amroth outside the busy summer season.
