A gutsy performance from Tenby's Under 10s could not prevent them being defeated by a powerful and well-organised Llanelli outfit. In excellent conditions, the touring visitors showed from the outset that they were a well-drilled unit, using their big forwards to drive the ball forward before releasing their pacy threequarters. But to the credit of the home side, they defended bravely and put the visitors under pressure on a number of occasions. Skipper for the day, Tom Grover, found himself in the unusual position of lock, but led his side well and made sure his team-mates kept concentrating. The front row unit of Calum Weakley, Ryan Absalom and Hugo Wellum worked hard throughout, Hugo getting just rewards when he plunged over for a first half score. The visitors had already taken a two-try lead, but this gave the Seasiders renewed confidence. Jake Vickery won a lot of possession at the lineout and this was vital in ensuring that the Tenby backs had an opportunity to ask questions of the Wanderers' defence. Scrum-half Corey Morris made a number of excellent sniping breaks and linked well with stand-off Dan Fairlie, who is now starting to settle into the position. Jack Murphy made a welcome return to the side and showed excellent anticipation when he ran two-thirds of the length of the field to score a fine interception try. Outside him, Elliot Ronowitz was in fine form, running strongly and tackling as if his life depended upon it. Unfortunately, Elliot had to leave the field in the second period after suffering what turned out to be a broken collarbone. All the boys wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in training next season. Ryan Lewis showed what an effective runner he is, powering his way up the touchline on a number of occasions. Another boy showing great pace was Rhys Hughes, who nearly showed the Wanderers' defence a clean pair of heals on a couple of occasions. The United were also fortunate to call on two substitutes, Tyler Moorhouse and Matthew, who both competed well. Llanelli were deserved winners in an entertaining match. The real difference between the two sides was organisation and this is something that will improve when all the boys attend training sessions.
