Plans to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I are underway for Tenby.

The ‘Battle’s End’ tribute sub-committee met last week to discuss ideas to make next year’s Remembrance Day a special commemoration, with proposals outlined to mark the occasion.

Former Mayor, John Griffiths had been working extensively on a project to compile a list of names that were on the Role of Honour in St. Mary’s Church, to add to the War Memorial.

It was suggested that part of next year’s service that takes place in the church be held at the War Memorial instead, while a Gala Concert may also be staged in the town over the Remembrance weekend.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting, the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, said that there were roughly 75 names in total for the committee to assess, and that potentially there was ample space on the steps of the current cenotaph to add these names to.

“It’s a lovely idea and well done to John Griffiths for all hard work he’s done towards this project,” she said.
