Barbara Scale from Marloes will be running the London Marathon this Sunday and flying the flag for Wales Air Ambulance Barbara is a registered volunteer for this life-saving charity and has supported several initiatives over the last 18 months raising several hundred pounds for the cause. She was successful in obtaining a place in the Flora London Marathon 2007 against stiff competition and has been in training for the event. On Saturday, she gained even more support during a coffee morning at Church House, Tenby, when her forthcoming run was discussed and those attending were impressed by her planning and determination. Barbara said: "I have chosen to support this worthwhile cause because I live in a rural area where medical response times can be critical and may be a matter of life and death. I have witnessed the air ambulance in action and have been impressed by the professionalism of the team and, because this organisation depends on charitable donations, my whole community supports it. "I have previously given support in 2005 and 2006 when I took part in my community's sponsored walks between St. Davids and Marloes. "For my London Marathon challenge, I have continued to receive support from my family and friends and I would publicly like to thank them for this." Hilary Harvey, local fund-raiser, said: " Barbara unselfishly gives her time and energy to this charity and we are very proud that she will be representing Wales Air Ambulance in London this weekend and, as far as I know, she is the only entrant from the county to be running for WAA. "We all want Barbara to have as much backing as possible, so if you would like to support our cause, please sponsor Barbara by 'phoning me on 0776 789 5504 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
