Volunteer fund-raisers, Mrs. Shan John and Miss Doreen Mortimer, from Tenby branch of the RNLI, are pictured receiving their Bronze Awards from Mrs. Alison Saunders, of the RNLI Trustees Council, in recognition of their long and loyal service to the institution. The awards were presented at the regional conference at Wolfscastle Hotel on June 12.
Shan has been a loyal, dedicated and enthusiastic member of Tenby committee for many years, most of which she has held the office of secretary in this very busy branch. Shan can always be relied upon to rally the troops very successfully.
Doreen holds two key roles within the branch, as souvenir secretary and flag week organiser. Both areas have increased their income since she took office. She is a loyal, hard-working member of his very busy committee.
Congratulations to both Shan and Doreen on well deserved Bronze awards.
The RNLI is a registered charity which has provided the lifeboat service around Britain and Ireland since 1824 and is recognised as one of the most efficient lifeboat services in the world. There are 230 lifeboat stations and their lifeboats launch nearly 7,000 times each year, rescuing over 6,900 people - an average of 19 per day.
The lifeboats are manned by highly trained volunteer crews and every penny required to maintain the service is raised from voluntary contributions.
During the last five years, lifeboats in Wales and West Mercia region (which includes the Isle of Man) have launched more than 4,500 times, saving over 750 lives.
Since the RNLI was founded, its lifeboats have saved over 136,000 lives.
