A presentation evening was held recently at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel, Carmarthen, where blood donors from Pembrokeshire and surrounding counties were presented with certificates and awards for their donations of blood and bone marrow.
After an address and welcome by Mr. David Evans, director of the Welsh Blood Service, the presentations were made by Dr. Dafydd Thomas, consultant in intensive therapy and anaesthesia at Morriston Hospital Swansea.
He told everyone that without blood donors, his job would be very difficult and how grateful they were that donors kept donating every year. Everyone should be very proud of their achievements, as it was no mean feat to reach the amounts of donations of some of the donors present. Among those attending were Mr. Berwyn Thomas, Mr. Derek Cole and Mr. Wally Marr, who have all donated 50-plus pints each, and Mr. John Everson, who has donated an amazing 83 pints. Seen above, they all donate regularly at the Tenby sessions.
If you wish to join them you can do so today (Friday), or Friday, June 9, at Tenby Leisure Centre, or on Friday, June 16, at the De Valence, Tenby.
