At this week's meeting of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland, which was attended by visiting Rotarians and wives from the French club Fontenay La Compte, with which the club is twinned, past president Patrick Jones was surprised when he was presented with the Paul Harris Fellow award.

Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary International just over 100 years ago.

The award states that it is presented in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance and better understanding and friendly relations between peoples of the world. The award was presented to Patrick in recognition of his prolonged and dedicated service to the club and the community.

Patrick is the usual photographer of the club's activities, but on this occasion he was the subject of the photo.

Patrick, who lives in Loveston and is a well known personality, was given a rapturous ovation by all those present.
